INDEPENDENCE
Many people may not understand the health benefits of helping others. The Cleveland Clinic asserts that from volunteering at a soup kitchen to committing to raising money for a specific charity, health benefits associated with giving can include:
Lower blood pressure. | Increased self-esteem. | Less depression.
Lower stress levels. | Longer life. | Greater happiness and satisfaction.
There is evidence that during gift-giving, humans secrete “feel-good” chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin (a mood-mediating chemical), dopamine (a feel-good chemical), and oxytocin (a bonding and compassion chemical).
Since 2011, MJALLEN MINISTRIES LLC has underwritten $218,350 in support/philanthropic services
To date (March 2026), over a 15-year period, the services average $14,557 annually.
The Dollar Value of the Teaching/Tutoring Services
Fifty-five dollars per hour ($55.00) would be the rate charged if the teaching/tutoring were a paid service. The philanthropic services offered are now in their 15th academic year and, as of March 2026, have accumulated teaching/tutoring hours of 2,120. The dollar value of the services for 2,120 hours, at $55.00, is $116,600. It is the combined cost that parents would have paid if the services were at a cost. In June 2022, the philanthropy arm awarded its $10,000 academic scholarships,
and in July 2025, was awarded its $13,000 Merit Award.
Tools, Technology, and other resources
As the philanthropy arm is now in the 15th academic school year as of March 2026, the organization has underwritten over $101,750 in tools, technology, school footwear,
laptops, smart devices, printers, and hardware/software service plans, transportation, housing, and other support services. Our philanthropic services have led to dependency for underserved students.
